The founder
Sébastien Gilabert is an expert in Computer Vision. During his research at INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), he became interested in several issues related to the loss of independence among seniors. Through his research, one question kept coming up: how to anticipate the early signs of decline, and the factors that herald this loss of independence and the difficulties that follow?
Faced with the absence of concrete answers to these challenges, Sébastien founded Missia in August 2023. This solution aims to address three major societal challenges: the rapid aging of the population, keeping the elderly at home, and the overload of home care staff, who are often understaffed and lacking resources.
Missia was born in 2023, following my research in artificial intelligence at INRIA. Very quickly, I was struck by a reality: too many warning signs of loss of independence in the elderly go unnoticed... until it is too late. It was from this realization that Missia was born.— Sébastien Gilabert
